By pressing the icon, the Message View toggles between
graphical (described further in this chapter) and tabular modes.
In tabular mode, each message is presented as a row in a table, while the columns represent predefined fields (with color coded values and relevant tool-tips shown when pointed on them with the mouse):
Figure 127 – Message View Tabular Mode
In table mode the expand/collapse, Auto Expand fields, Sort-Up/Down according to predefined criteria as well as Show/Hide fields modes are disabled. All other features of Message View are valid in this mode including synchronization with other windows, freeze, value/meaning, etc.
A Message Options sub-menu appears
when right-clicking on a pre-selected message.
These Message Options are
similar to those explained when using the Message View graphical mode. See par.
4.3.
Message compare results are displayed only in Message View graphical mode and can’t be displayed in the tabular mode (see description of these features in the following sections of this chapter).
When right-clicking with the mouse on
the table title line, fields can be added or removed to/from columns in a
similar way that setting auto expanded fields in graphical mode is done (see
par. 4.1). Columns can be
reordered by pressing on the up arrow (move column to the
left) and down arrow
(move column to the right):

Notes:
The column
selection must contain at least one field.
A desired field can be quickly
added as a column by right-clicking on it from the Message View graphics mode.
See next paragraph for details)
Pressing the 'Default' button sets the basic columns defined originally with the application.
The chosen columns for table view are kept in the workspace file (.WRK) when saved.
By checking the ‘Use Workspace Columns’ in the Preferences Message View tab, the user can choose if when opening a workspace saved with another Perytons™ Protocol Analyzer application, the table view will be set to the columns defined in the workspace. If this checkbox is not marked, when opening a workspace the current table column settings (shown, order, etc.), will apply. See more in par. 19.4).
The table columns width can be adjusted to a desired column width:
Figure 129 – Adjusting Column Widths in Message View – Table Mode
Note: Double clicking on the column edge will automatically fit the column width to the longest value content.
Clicking on any of the column headers
sorts the table according to the chosen field (in ascending or descending order
when clicking on the header for a second time).
If the sorting field is
numeric, the data will be sorted by its value in 'value' mode (i.e. 1, 2, 3, …,
8, 9, 10, 11, …, 18, 19, 20,…) and by text if in 'meaning' mode (i.e.
1, 10, 11, 12, …, 18, 19, 2, 20, 21, …).
