The best Time View resolution is achieved for capture periods shorter than 30mins. For longer periods, Time View resolution may degrade.
When opening a previously captured file, the Time View resolution will be automatically set to an optimized best value according to the file length. However, in real time capture, the capture time is unknown, and the analyzer uses the 'Max Time' box (defined in the Data Capture form) to set the resolution. Setting a long 'Max Time' value will degrade the Time View resolution. Therefore it is recommended to keep the ‘Max Time’ under 1800secs (30mins) when long captures are not intended (see additional information in chapter 11).
In Continuous capture, old messages are erased from those displayed in the Time View window as new messages arrive, therefore the Time View window is set to the best resolution (note that ALL messages are still recorded into the data capture .ANL file and can be loaded and analyzed off-line).
