Enables setting sophisticated search criteria that can combine existing (simpler) saved searches within a user defined logical expression.
Figure 244 – Enhanced Search Tool
The 'Enhanced Search In…' form window title shows the enhanced search source (Time View or Message View active tab)
The basic elements used for building-up the logical enhanced search expression can include message filtering based on field values, text, tooltip, note and more.
Note: The Enhanced Search option uses Saved-Searches as elements for building-up the logical expressions (see par.14.1 ).
42.6.1 The Enhanced Search toolbar
Figure 245 – Enhanced Search toolbar
• Add New Search Element
Create a new basic search element
(see also first paragraph of this chapter) by opening the "Search In…"
form.
After creating the new basic search element its name will automatically
appear in the Search Elements list in this form.
Note: Basic search
elements are used as variables in the Enhanced Search logical expression so it
is highly recommended to save such searches with meaningful and easy to identify
names.
• Remove Saved Search
Delete the selected saved Enhanced Search, (not the Search Element), from the Saved Searches drop down list.
• Undo the last logical expression related operation
Eliminates the last action performed related to building or deleting elements or operands from the Enhanced Search logical expression and reverts to the previous definition.
• Redo the last undone logical expression related operation
Repeats the last undone action performed related to building or deleting elements or operands from the Enhanced Search logical expression.
• Clear Search Expression
Delete all variables and operands of the current Enhanced Search expression.
• Help
Opens the Enhanced Search on-line help with an Internet browser (Internet connection is required).
42.6.2 Saved Searches
Allows using previously saved Enhanced Search expressions by selecting them from the drop down list. By default the Enhanced Search form will open with the expression of the last Enhanced Search performed.
42.6.3 Search Elements section
Shows all existing basic search
elements defined through the standard, not Enhanced, search form (see first
paragraph of this chapter).
Basic search elements can integrate search
criteria involving any of the message and field parameters – e.g. value,
tooltip, user note, etc.
42.6.4 Operands section
Shows all possible operands that can be used to build-up the Enhanced Search expression.
42.6.5
Trash Bin
Is used to discard selected elements or operands and delete them from an Enhance Search expression. This is accomplished by dragging the desired element or operand to the Trash Bin.
42.6.6 Enhanced Search expression section
Is the 'working pad' where the
Enhanced Search expression is built.
To construct an Enhanced Search
expression 'Drag & Drop' Search Elements and Operands to this section.
Notes:
To delete a
specific search element or operand from the expression, 'Drag & Drop' it to
the Trash-Bin.
If the expression has an error (e.g. missing parenthesis), a
relevant error notification will be shown preventing from saving the Enhanced
Search expression.
Double clicking on the Search Element opens this element
in simple search form and allows editing its criteria.
42.6.7 Max Results
Maximum number of results to be returned by the Enhanced Search action. If for example the user looks for the message that meets the defined criterion, there is no need to wait for the analyzer to search all messages and display all the results. In this case he may choose to set Max Results to 1.
Note: While the Enhanced
Search is being performed, a counter next to the progress bar (in the lower left
side of the Main Window), indicates the number of matches found. The user can
then manually press the sign to stop the search if the desired
number of matches has been met.
42.6.8 Always Open Enhanced Search
When selected, directly open the
Enhanced Search form every time a search/find service is performed. If
unselected, a search/find service will open the basic search form.
The
Enhanced Search option can be initiated from the basic search form. Settings of the "Always Open Enhanced Search" can be also
modified in the user preferences Time View tab – see par. 19.2)
