42.2.1 Field
Allows selecting the relevant field
out of a possible fields' drop-down list in easy to use color-coded tree-view
mode (including fields, sub-fields, etc. using the expand/collapse /
fields
options):
Figure 240 – Search Tool forms
The 'All fields' choice will perform a search of the value in all fields. Search is done in the field and in its 'sons' (if applicable). For example searching in field MAC will search in MAC and all its subfields while searching a specific field such as 'MacHeaderFctlFrameType', only searches in this relevant bit in the MAC type word.
When pointing with the mouse on a
field in the tree, a tooltip describing it appears.
Double clicking on a
field selects it. Note that fields marked with gray can't be selected (these are
virtual fields used by the analyzer for hierarchical message analysis but do not
appear in the Message View or in the Tree View sections).
Pressing the icon, opens a smart field (list
format) chooser form:

The Field section enables using wildcards (e.g. ‘*’ or ‘?’ to indicate unknown characters). In addition, when pointing on a field in the list, a tooltip describing it appears. Double-clicking on a field from the Matching Fields list will place it on the 'Search in' Field section.
42.2.2 Text, Hint, Value, Exists, Note
Defines in which of the fields' properties to perform the search:
• Text
Search for a text string. For example if a field has two values 0 and 1 representing No and Yes, value allows to search for 0 or for 1, and text allows to search for Y or N
• Hint
Search in the field
tooltip.
Note: In this case the result string found is not
highlighted by a blue background.
• Value
Search for a numeric value field (decimal). For example if a field has two values 0 and 1 representing No and Yes, value allows to search for 0 or for 1, and text allows to search for Y or N
• Exists
Search for messages that include the requested field. For example searching for a beacon slot size, and marking messages that contain a 'beacon' field
• Note
Search in a messages' user defined note.
Note: When searching for all the messages that have user defined notes, 'Note' should be selected and 'Text/Hint:' in the 'Search for' section, should be left empty.
