Keeping keys in the .ANL file

When capturing data, the Perytons™ Protocol Analyzer uses these keys in order to decipher the secured messages. If a message was correctly deciphered with a key entered by the user, this key as well as the short-long MAC address association information, will be written into the capture data file (.ANL).

Opening this .ANL file by another Perytons™ Protocol Analyzer program will allow it to decipher the secured messages without the need to re-insert the keys in the Security menu.

If, when analyzing a previously captured file, additional messages are successfully deciphered (e.g. with new keys entered by the user), these keys will be automatically added to the .ANL file as well.
Indication of whether all encrypted messages are successfully  deciphered, only part of the messages are successfully  deciphered, or no encrypted messages included in the capture , also is reflected in the security icon color on the Main window Toolbar – see par. ‎1.3.

Note: These .ANL files have a different format than .ANL files created by older versions of the Perytons™ Protocol Analyzer (version 3.05 or older). When opening older files, the Perytons™ Protocol Analyzer will keep the old file with extension .BAK, and automatically update the ANL file to the new format. Such a converted file, as well as new file captured with Perytons™ Protocol Analyzer versions 3.1 and newer, can’t be opened by previous versions of the Perytons™ Protocol Analyzer.
