Time Bookmarks can be used to mark and easily go back to points of interest along the horizontal axis.
Figure 114 – Time View, Bookmarks
When the Time View is the active
window, adding a bookmark is achieved by double clicking with the mouse on an
empty spot in the time grid gray bar, where the time bookmark indication is
desired (a relevant bookmark symbol and a vertical bookmark line 'Marker' will
appear in the time axis location where it has been set).
When the 'Marker'
line is shown, (see following the existing bookmark right-click options), the
bookmark time and (in case this is not the first bookmark set) the time
difference between the bookmark and the first (reference) bookmark is
shown.
Removing a bookmark is done by double clicking on it.
A bookmark can be moved to another location by pressing on it with the mouse and dragging it right or left, to the new desired location.
The user can jump between bookmarks and bring them into the visible Time View window area by pressing F3 (to the next bookmark in the Bookmarks tab within the Bookmarks and Notes window) or <shift>F3 (to the previous bookmark in the Bookmarks tab within the Bookmarks and Notes window). See chapter 8 for details on the Bookmarks and Notes window.
Bookmarks can be automatically added by scripts. For example:
packet.AddBookmark();
or
packet.AddBookmark(“Event #1”);
where the second option sets the bookmark name (text given in brackets). See how to use the Peryton-Scripting Add-On for writing Scripts in chapter V.2.
When right clicking on a Bookmark or on the x axis in the place where a new desired bookmark is to be placed, a relevant menu appears:
Figure 115 – Right clicking on a Bookmark or on a new location on the time (x) axis
The following actions are available from this menu:
• Toggle Bookmark – create or delete a bookmark at a desired time in the horizontal axis
• Toggle Bookmark State – change a Bookmark status to 'visible and active'
(marked in the 'Bookmarks' tab in the Bookmarks and Notes window) or 'visible
but not active' (keeps the Bookmark in its current time-location but unmark it
in the 'Bookmarks' tab in the Bookmarks and Notes window) – see chapter 8.
Note: A
Bookmark that is visible but not active will not be jumped to by pressing F3 or
<shift> F3, and its Bookmark marking on the time (x) axis will be shown in
faded color.
• Toggle Marker State – show/hide a vertical line along with the time-bookmark (when visible the relevant bookmark 'Marker' column in the 'Bookmarks' tab in the Bookmarks and Notes window will show 'Yes' and when not set as a marker it will show 'No') – see chapter 8)
• Clear All Bookmarks – delete all the Bookmarks (from the Time View window as well as from the Bookmarks tab in the Bookmarks and Notes window). See chapter 8 for details
